Files App was founded in Berlin in 2022 by a small group of engineers who were tired of the implicit bargain of modern cloud storage: give us your data, and we'll give you convenience. We watched as major providers scanned files for advertising, trained AI models on private documents, and handed over data to authorities without a fight. We knew there had to be a better way.
We built Files App on a simple principle: your files should be yours alone. Our zero-knowledge architecture means that files are encrypted on your device before they ever reach our servers. We literally cannot read your data — and that's by design. No scanning, no profiling, no compromises. Just secure, private file storage that works.

Encryption shouldn't require a PhD. We obsess over making powerful security features feel effortless. If it's hard to use, we haven't finished designing it.
